The Detroit Lions have released Jamie Collins after attempting to trade him.

The veteran linebacker stopped reporting to practice ahead of Week 3 as the Lions explored options for his future.

Dan Campbell said last week that he met with Collins to communicate the team's plans to seek a trade, but the Lions ultimately couldn't reach a deal for him.

Richard Sherman announced on his own podcast Wednesday that he's signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He worked out for Tampa Bay earlier this week.

Josh Gordon will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gordon is being reinstated by the NFL following a December 2019 violation of the league's policies on substance abuse and performance enhancing substances.

Gordon has been suspended six times since 2013.

Released by the Baltimore Ravens in January, Robert Griffin III hasn't given up on playing professional football.

On The Adam Schefter Podcast, Griffin said "would love to go [back to Washington] and be able to have that come full circle" in the wake of Ryan Fitzpatrick's injury.

Griffin began his career with the Washington Football Team, but lasted just four seasons there amid a series of injuries.

"When I see all these opportunities, guys maximizing (them), that's what I wanna get to," Griffin told Schefter, referencing career resurgences from veterans like Ryan Tannehill and Nick Foles. "I know this year, I mean it's the season, (so) you're not competing to be [a] quote-unquote starter in the season, so for me, it's about ... a team has an injury or they wanna bring me in, (that'd be) awesome. I'm on board for that."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached out to Richard Sherman to gauge his interest in joining the team.

The Buccaneers placed starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting on injured reserve last week.

"We got to see," Bruce Arians said. "He's got other things going on, too. Just a matter of, 'I coach the ones that we got and let [Jason Licht] handle the rest of that.' We'll kick the tires on some other guys, too. But it's just a matter of, 'No, we'll talk and see, and if it's the right fit, it's the right fit and we'll move on it.'"

The Buccaneers will be without Murphy-Bunting, who also serves as their nickelback, for an indefinite time after he suffered a dislocated right elbow in Week 1.

In the midst of the final year of his contract, Chandler Jones isn't focusing on negotiations.

The pass rusher made it clear this offseason that he wanted a new deal. Jones did not participate in offseason workouts with the Arizona Cardinals and confirmed Wednesday that he requested a trade to a team that plans to pay him.

"I think I play best when I don't go in thinking about the deal," Jones said. "… I'm just playing football, honestly. I'm letting my agent take care of all of that. It is the last year of my contract and I let that take care of itself."

Jones had five sacks in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans.

The Baltimore Ravens are promoting Devonta Freeman from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Ravens will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

In Week 1, Latavius Murray (10 carries for 28 yards) and Ty'Shon Williams (nine carries for 65 yards) split time at running back.

Akiem Hicks has been a fixture for the Chicago Bears for six seasons.

The 31-year-old hopes to finish out his career with the franchise.

"I'll do everything in my power to do so," he said. "That's what I want. That's what I feel at the end of the day is right for me. I started a piece of my career here, and it grew, and it blossomed, and I've just had so many joy-filled moments as a Chicago Bear. I can't see myself in another jersey."

A third-round pick out of Regina (Canada) in 2012, Hicks spent three seasons with the Saints before being traded to New England three games into the 2015 season. He then inked a two-year contract in Chicago in 2016.

The New Orleans Saints are signing Kenny Still to their practice squad.

The wide receiver worked out for the team on Monday.

The 144th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Stills spent his first two seasons in New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a five-year, $97.6 million contract extension with Marshon Lattimore, according to sources.

The deal could be worth up to $100 million and carries $68.3 million in guarantees.

It is the largest full guarantee at signing for any cornerback in NFL history.

Lattimore, 25, is in the final year of his rookie contract and would have become a free agent in 2022.
